Fusion began in August 2006 and is funded by the Big Lottery, Cornwall County Council and Connections. It is part of a non-profit group called Young People Cornwall who work specifically with young people in Cornwall aged 11-25. The goal of the Fusion project is to challenge and ultimately eliminate racism.
Activities of the project include supporting people from the BME community (including gypsy-travellers, migrant families & international students). They also undertake inclusive work with the non-BME community in schools, youth centres, training centres, and Entry to Employment (E2E) schemes to raise awareness and understanding of cultural, ethnic and faith diversity. The project has also developed a resource centre in Truro that will serve as a budding 'Global Centre' and BME youth service signposting service.
