Let's Talk: The Dialogue Project

This project is led by Tide~ (Teachers in Development Education) and forms part of Diversity and Dialogue. The project brings together one teacher and two students from six different schools in Birmingham.

They have been challenged to develop dialogue models that encourage young people to talk about big global issues. In the first meetings they have been identifying the most important issues to them and thinking about the difficulties in communicating and discussing such complex topics. They will make links between the global and its local effects on their everyday lives.

The methodology is similar to another project, Let's Talk, run by Tide in 2003, which worked with students in Birmingham and Northern Ireland. The aim is to create an environment where teachers and students talk and share ideas as equals. The students take the lead in developing learning models for their peers.
