Interfaith Youth Champions

The Interfaith Youth Champions project is an initiative run by Minorities of Europe. It aims to train, support and resource young people to become 'Inter-faith Youth Champions', and supports them to organize inter-faith activities in their local communities and schools.

The project is being implemented in schools and colleges in London, Cheltenham, Coventry and Leicester. It currently trains and works with 40 young people. It aims to help them express their beliefs and religious allegiances and to correct misrepresentations. It also helps them understand their perceptions of others, and to recognize the value of cultural and religious diversity within their communities.

The training also gives young people skills in leadership, advocacy and effective communication. It builds their self-esteem and gives them support to return to their communities as advocates for their faiths and cultures. A long lasting and sustainable impact on inter-faith dialogue and understanding between cultures will develop as trained Inter-faith Youth Champions grow in their faith communities and encourage others to train and develop in similar ways.
