Minorities of Europe is a pan-European, inter-minority network, based in Coventry and London. Its core mission is to cultivate respect and co-operation between the different groups and communities of modern European and UK society.
MoE promotes and celebrates difference and diversity. It facilitates the better participation and integration of minority communities into the mainstream of contemporary society, tackling the root causes of prejudice, marginalization and alienation.
MoE is a project-based charity and often works in partnership with other similarly community minded organisations. Its range of activities breaks down into four key areas: 'Interfaith,' 'Community Cohesion,' 'Europe', and 'International Development'. MoE is a member of the UK Interfaith Network. It runs a wide range of community based projects that further interfaith dialogue and exchange, working with all the principal faith groups and interfaith organisations in the West Midlands, London and beyond.
MoE places special emphasis upon young people. The majority of its projects are inspired and championed by young people, who work in tandem with MoE's experienced staff.
In many ways MoE's flagship project is 'The Swapping Cultures Initiative,' widely implemented in hundreds of schools, colleges and other forums across the UK. It has been praised by the Government Advisor, Ted Cantle, author of the 'Cantle Report' into Bradford riots of 2001, as a unique and exceptional programme for undermining prejudice and fostering social cohesion.
The next stage of the Initiative is to train the 'Interfaith Champions,' young people able to represent and promote interfaith values to broader society. MoE is an excellent example of an effective and modern charity, working at grass roots level, tangibly to improve understanding and interaction amongst our diverse communities.'
