Children for Peace

Children for Peace runs a number of projects that aim to build better understanding between young people of different faiths.

The Tim Parry Scholarship is a cultural youth exchange which targets gifted, talented, and successful 'high-achievers' who have demonstrated leadership skills within their own schools and communities. The scholarship brings together 24 young people (aged 17-21) from Warrington, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, from both the Catholic and Protestant faiths. The young people attend three weekend residentials at which they participate in intercultural activities, and explore the differences and similarities of their respective communities and cultures. The programme raises the self-awareness of participants concerning the different prejudices they can hold and how this can lead to conflict.

Children for Peace also run a similar project, Young Citizens, for young people between the ages of 14-16. Both programmes aims to improve Anglo-Irish-Northern-Irish relationships (including across the communities in Northern Ireland) and foster friendships between the young people of Britain, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
