Faithlink: Interfaith Connection for Youth

Faithlink is a dialogue group set up to give young people the space and opportunity to discuss issues related to religion that are of interest and important to them. It is aimed primarily at young adults and attracts a number of students from nearby universities in central London. It is affiliated to the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP).

Faithlink meets once a month and meetings often start with a talk from an eminent speaker, for example a faith leader or a representative from the IIFWP, and then continue with small group discussions around a theme selected by the group. Previous meetings have explored the relationship between freedom of speech and the freedom of religious belief, and whether there is a 'right to offend'. Other topics have included perceptions of religious people by others in the community and how moral and values drawn from faith affect daily life. Faithlink is committed to building a strong network of young people and youth leaders, likeminded in conscience and commitment, in order to bridge gaps between race, religion, and generation and to empower each other in building a safer world.

This is a good first port of call for colleges keen to develop their interfaith work and links with local faith communities, and for faith communities keen to build links with their local colleges. For more information about the project please visit their website.
