Spirit of Enniskillen Trust

In a deeply divided society, the Spirit of Enniskillen enables young people from all backgrounds to make their own positive contribution towards a peaceful and shared future.

To release the potential of young people and to help them engage in and shape the future of their own society, the Spirit of Enniskillen runs through a progression of four local and international peer-learning programmes, all of them delivered voluntarily by past-participants who are themselves modelling leadership and facilitating others through a process of dialogue and learning.

‘Explore’ is the annual leadership core-programme that develops the potential of fifty young people from all backgrounds in Northern Ireland. This includes an overseas element that has enabled participants to meet and engage with other young people in regions including the Middle East, Bosnia and Croatia, Cyprus, the Basque Country, Europe, South Africa, the USA, Mexico and Canada.

'Future Voices' is the follow-up project run fully by young volunteers who have passed through the Explore programme.

‘Voice’ consolidates and builds the peer-mentoring experience and facilitation skills of the emerging young leaders of Future Voices.

‘Together’ then utilises the energy and commitment of these experienced young volunteers to deliver a programme of ‘dealing with difference’ dialogue and learning in schools across Northern Ireland and other regions, including Oldham in England.
