Youth Initiatives

Youth Initiatives is a cross-community youth group which aims to awaken hope, inspire initiative and mobilise youth to make a vital contribution to their community and to reconciliation in Northern Ireland through the discovery and renewal of Christian faith in daily life.

Youth Initiatives runs seven youth work projects in disadvantaged areas of Belfast. The Creative Crosslinks project brings together young people from divided Catholic and Protestant areas of the city through creative arts modules, weekend community relations residentials and public performances. Other projects include the girls 'RELAY' project (15-18s), boys 'Target' project (15-18s), NUTS (11-14s), Lifeline (15-18), SPY (Schools Partnering Youthwork for 14-15s) and a volunteers programme (for 16-25's).

All Youth Initiatives projects involve informal education, personal, social and spiritual development and community relations dynamics. YI summer camps, summer schemes and service projects also bring together young people from both faith communities in service, training, discussion and recreation.
