Youth Action is an independent community organisation working with young people, aged 8 to 24, across Lancashire. They run a number of different activities and projects, and one of their key aims is to promote mutual respect amongst the different communities in the local area.

In 2004 Youth Action piloted a project to bring 40 young people from different faiths together learning forms of integration and mutual respect. This was a great success and Youth Action has recently been planning the second phase of the project.

They have been working with NICHS in Belfast to bring together young Muslims in East Lancashire with Catholics and Protestants from Northern Ireland. They are organising a residential in July 2006 for a mixed group of 16-18 year olds, which will provide the opportunity for the young people to share their experiences and build relationships. After the residential the group will produce a toolkit, including a DVD, for other young people to further share the learning from the project.
