FAB (Friends Against Bullying)

Both of these projects aim to empower young people to take leadership in intervening in all areas of bullying. The young participants are trained by Diversity Hub UK to be leaders.

Highfields Diversity and Unity Young People's Project

This initiative was started in response to escalating interfaith and interethnic conflict between the Somali community, the African Caribbean community and the dual heritage community in Leicester. The project brings together young people from each community to empower them to form relationships and partnerships with each other and to address negative issues in inter-community relations.

International Inter-faith Gardening Work Camp

The International Inter-faith Gardening Work Camp takes place every summer over a period of approximately 10 days in locations around the city. The camp works to foster mutual respect and understanding between people from different faiths, nationalities and cultural backgrounds and hopes that volunteers will gain a deeper understanding of the variety and commitment of faith communities in the multicultural city of Leicester. The underlying aim is to raise participant®s awareness and understanding of the importance of international understanding and tolerance.

Multi-faith Media Group

The Multi-faith media group, originally known as Youth Extra, is a fantastic initiative which aims to train young people from across the faiths in media skills. This involves working with a group of approximately eight young people between the ages of 17-25 to produce radio, print and web features, to encourage being proactive in media and to seek opportunities to do this locally and further afield.

Soft Touch Community Arts

Soft Touch uses the arts to offer people with limited opportunities the chance to work together to effect positive change for themselves and their communities. The majority of our work is with young people and is focused around providing opportunities for misrepresented or under-represented groups to communicate their experiences and ideas in a positive way. Projects use different creative media e.g. graphic design, music, drama, video and photography.

Young People's Council of Faiths

This is a relatively new project which began in July 2005 and involves creating opportunities for dialogue and understanding between young people from different faiths.

The project is in its early stages, and so far the group has been meeting regularly to discuss setting up various projects in co-operation with local schools and colleges. The group aims to be a consultative body on issues of faith and community. It hopes to establish strong links with the media, preparing young individuals for becoming future leaders of their respective faiths and cultures.

Youth Voice

Youth Voice is an initiative set up and run by young people which aims to support young people in employment, education and learning and to encourage young people to empower themselves. Their mission statement is 'youth voice recognises all young people and their unique talents by encouraging originality and creating opportunities to achieve'.
