Breaking Barriers in Burnley

Breaking Barriers in Burnley is a multi-agency youth provision, which aims to involve young people from different areas, backgrounds and cultures together in order to develop positive relationships between the various communities of Burnley. It works to tackle racism, bring communities together, promote understanding and tolerance and to reduce conflict by providing constructive activities for the young people of Burnley.

Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA) is a community based youth action project using sports and youth work to engage young people and support them in developing projects which benefit the community. It aims to improve relationships between people from different faiths and backgrounds throughout the London Borough of Camden.

Fusion

Fusion began in August 2006 and is funded by the Big Lottery, Cornwall County Council and Connections. It is part of a non-profit group called Young People Cornwall who work specifically with young people in Cornwall aged 11-25. The goal of the Fusion project is to challenge and ultimately eliminate racism.

Races and Faces Project

Students from St. Wilfrid's School (CoE) and Beardwood School (majority Muslim) in Blackburn were brought together during this project to discuss their thoughts and feelings about racial bullying in their schools and communities. They then worked together with a local community artist to design a banner and mosaic which expressed their feelings surrounding the issues they had discussed.

Tolerance in Diversity

Tolerance in Diversity (TiD) began as a project in 1994 by a group of young people responding to escalating racial attacks and the success of the BNP in Tower Hamlets. As a charity, it continues to be youth-led and trained and OCN accredited members, ages 16+, are the key workers delivering training and workshops to young people on a range of relevant issues, such as tackling racism, cultural diversity and conflict resolution.

Youth Action is an independent community organisation working with young people, aged 8 to 24, across Lancashire. They run a number of different activities and projects, and one of their key aims is to promote mutual respect amongst the different communities in the local area.
